Visa for foreign people (list*) who wish to visit Ecuador for tourist purposes (working is prohibited)

Requirements:

• Original and valid passport with at least 6 months of validity from the application. 
• Completed visa application form, it can be downloaded from: https://www.cancilleria.gob.ec/wp-content/uploads/2019/02/formulario_de_visas.pdf
• Passport photo in JPG format maximum one MB, 5 x 5 cms (2 x 2 inches), updated, clear image of your face with white background, facial expression must be neutral, with both eyes open and ears uncovered. (Digital and printed)
• Official proof of regular stay in the country from where you request the visa.
• Verification of criminal records of the country of origin or in which you have resided for the last five years, apostilled by the national authority of the country of residence and officially translated, maximum of 180 days of validity (please notice that translation must be notarized and also apostilled). Please notice that if you have been living in the USA you need the FBI criminal background and the criminal background of the State where you live (2 criminal backgrounds), each one with the official translation to Spanish that must be apostilled too (Total: 4 apostilles)
• Proof of legal income that supports the trip of the applicant and his dependent family group (Bank statements for the last 3 months and credit card statement for the last 3 months)
• Other documents required by the Consular Authority, may be requested once the first documents have been reviewed. In this case, the applicant will have 10 days to present the required documentation.

*According to current law, the following countries require a visa to visit Ecuador: 

Once you have all the information detailed above you can make an appointment through the system developed for this purpose. To do this you must follow the following steps:

1. Select the Consulate of Ecuador in Washington D.C. from the list of Administrative Centers (remember that the coverage of this Consulate is: Delaware, District of Columbia, Maryland, Virginia and West Virginia)
2. Be sure to carefully read the initial information provided by the system (address, payment methodology, opening hours)
3. Select the type of service (Atención al migrante). Click next
4. Select again the type of service (Atención al migrante). Click next
5. Enter the passport number, contact number and email. Click next
6. You will receive a verification code in your email which you must enter in «Código de activación enviado al correo indicado»
7. A calendar will appear, you can select the date and hour of your preference, the free spaces will be marked with green color.
8. Once you have selected the schedule for your appointment press generate.
9. You will receive an email of conformation of your appointment.
10. In case you need to cancel an appointment taken, you can do it on the same platform by clicking on the red button to cancel an appointment which is below the Consulate information (step 2).

On the day of your appointment do not forget to bring

• Valid passport
• FBI and State records translated and apostilled (4 apostilles)
• Bank statements for the last 3 months
• Money order of $50 for the application and another of $30 in the event that your visa is approved.
