Ambassador of Ecuador gives conference about ALBA-TCP at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Malaysia
Ambassador of Ecuador in Malaysia, Lourdes Puma, delivered at the Institute of International Relations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Malaysia ( IDFR ) a lecture on “The Bolivarian Alliance for the Peoples of Our America Trade Treaty (ALBA-TCP)” , within the seminar” the Integration Process of Latin America and the Caribbean “, organized by IDFR and 10 Latin American and Caribbean embassies accredited in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia among them, (Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Cuba, Ecuador, Mexico, Peru, Uruguay and Venezuela). The event was coordinated by the Ecuadorian diplomatic delegation.
For his part, Ambassador of Chile, Christian Rehren, spoke about the conceptual framework and the history of the different processes of Latin American and Caribbean integration, as well as the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States (CELAC), Ambassador of Peru, Marco Balarezo , gave a brief overview of the South American Union of Nations (UNASUR), Ambassador of Uruguay, Gerardo Prato, dealt with the Southern Common Market (MERCOSUR) and the Ambassador of Colombia, Rodrigo Cherub, concluded by addressing “Pacific Alliance”.
The event, attended by government officials and especially representatives of academic sectors and the Ambassadors of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations, was inaugurated by the Acting General Director of the Institute of Foreign Affairs of the Foreign Ministry of Malaysia, Aminhtun Hj. A. Karim, and was closed by the Ambassador of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Manuel Guzman, in his capacity as Dean of the Latin American and Caribbean.
The conference is part of the actions that the Latin American and Caribbean Group Embassies in Malaysia is doing, in order to raise awareness about the different processes of integration and development in our countries, and to find mechanisms for consultation and work with Malaysia and the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN).
